The haptic cup is made to be experienced through touch. Thrown and altered on a treadle wheel, the rising and falling cadence of the wheel leaves its trace on the form. Shifting glaze textures - from satin to matte to crawling - invite slow handling exploration from every angle, creating a mindful experience that elevates the everyday ritual.
Crafted from a hand-selected blend of Australian commercial and wild stoneware clays, these mugs are finished with a striking carbon-trapping Shino glaze. The glaze’s deep, fiery red tones come from the inclusion of red earthenware clay sourced from Victoria’s Surf Coast. Fired in a gas kiln to 1300°C in a reduction atmosphere, the flame’s movement through the kiln creates rich variation and unique surface character—no two cups are ever the same.
